Public Washrooms

These are little to be desired, there is usually a hole in the floor with a half wall for privacy if any. Be sure to carry your own supply of toilet paper, there is seldom any in the washrooms, (don't be surprised to see cut up squares of newspaper). During the Communist rule, Russians used to go out every morning to buy their newspaper Pravda (truth) or the Red Star, to replenish there supply in the washroom, as toilet paper was difficult to come by.

There won't be any soap or towels to wash up with in public washrooms either. There has been an improvement in washrooms in newer facilities, they actually have a door now, but in many areas still no door, so much for your dignity. Note: Most public washrooms you will have to pay $2 RUBLE to $5 Rubles.
